Corralejo Fuerteventura
Is a town and resort located on the north east tip of Fuerteventura, one of the Canary Islands, facing to the small island of Lobos. At approximately 2 miles (3.2 km), it is the largest holiday resort in Fuerteventura. Corralejo remains a traditional fishing village, but there are also many new buildings and Hotels behind and beside it. Corralejo has managed to retain its original charm and atmosphere, and there are still white sandy beaches in the town centre, where you can 'drop down' and soak up the Canarian sunshine.
Shopping: Consumer goods in Spain are generally cheaper than elsewhere in Europe. The Canary Islands are duty-free, so tobacco, alcohol and perfumes are cheaper than in Europe, but limits on the number of such goods that can be brought off the island still apply. Corralejo has twoshopping centresEl Campanario (the bell tower) and Las Palmeras in the shopping centers you can finda few designer stores ( Zara, Mango, Springfield.. etc) perfumeries. The local weekly artisan market at Shopping center - El Campanario takes place on a Sunday between 10:00 and 14:00This centre offers live music and entertainment regularly, and Canarian music takes place in the central plaza on Saturday afternoons. In the main street of Corralejo you will find a variety of shops, some of these are the usual tourist shops selling towels, souvenirs and things for the beach.
Watersports: Fuerteventura is known as the island of the water sports. As it offers all year roundconditions for doing it. Around Corralejo you can find some best places/beaches for water activities.
Surfing - si very big in Corralejo. The town is situated close to the north shore of Fuerteventura. This is where all the best surfing spots are held. As for advanced as for beginners. One day surf course cost around - 45EUR (included board wetsuit and transfer), surf board rental is 10EUR/Day. One week surf camp will cost you around - 300EUR.
Stand Up Paddle - SUP is very nice to do in Corralejo bay, you can rent a SUP board for 10EUR/hour and go paddling around the Corralejo bay. Or do a family Stand up Paddle adventure in Lobos island, crossing around amazing sightseeing roads, snorkel in lagoons absorbing fishes and the underwater life.
Kitesurfing/Kiteboarding - there is a few kitesurfing spots/beaches close to Corralejo most of them are south from the town on the east coast. First one is a Flag Beach, 5 kilometers south is Glass Beach as well called El Burro. On the west Coast is El Cotillo, its 20 km from the Corralejo. If you would like to rent a kitesurfing/kiteboarding gear you will be asked to prove your Kitesurfing level with IKO or VDWS card. Kite and Board rental for one day is around - 50EUR. The Kitesurfing beginner course of 4 days will cost you around - 400EUR (All the material: kite, board, wetsuit, etc. is included in to the price).
Windsurfing - you can do windsurfing in Corralejo bay, Flag Beach, Glass Beach or in El Cotillo. Windsurfing gear (board and Sail) rental is around 40EUR/Day. Beginner windsurfing course 1 day is 35EUR, 3 days - 135EUR.
Restaurants places to eat. Corralejo offers plenty of restaurants. There are over a 100 restaurants in the resort which cater for pretty much every cuisine on the planet so whether its Chinese, Italian, Tipico Canario, Indian, British or Irish Cuisine you will be spoilt for choice and you will never be too far away from the traditional Sunday Lunch! The best restaurants mainly are situated in the Corralejo bay, facing into the ocean and little Island Los Lobos. While you try some local dishes you can enjoy looking to the beautiful sightseeing of Corralejo bay and small island (Los Lobos). In general a meal for four persons including drinks will cost around €50.
Night life in Corralejo is laid back compared to the other main Canary Islands (Gran Canaria or Tenerife). But for sure is the best in all the Fuerteventura. In Corralejo night party scene takes place in and around the main street. You can visit some live music bars Rock Island, Corner Rock or a surf bar Tequila Beach. The young wild surfer crowd usually do the tour of the surf bars - starting in Buena Onda surf bar then going to Banana bar or Tequila beach bar (live music form 22:00 - 24:00) and finishing the night in Waikiki discotheque. The party's pretty much the same every evening!
Tours, activities: If you are bored of Corralejo you have a perfect one day tour escape to Lanzarote island, its just 20 minutes boat ride from Corralejo port to Playa Blanca. Rent a car in the port and go around the island exploring the Volcano park, diving to the Lanzarote famous Caves of Jameos del Agua. Visit local wineries of Lanzarote.
Beaches: Corralejo is surrounded with most impressive beautiful beaches in the whole Europe, no doubt! There is 2 small sandy baches in the town, usually is very crowded. The most impressive beaches are situated just south of Corralejo in the Parque Natural de Corralejo.
The name of the beach is Grandes Playas, is long sandy beach with turkish clean water and a big Sand Dunes. Its a lonely beach, but walking along it you can find some naturist walking, don’t be ashamed as its usual in Fuerteventura. Corralejo beach Grandes Playas has the prestigious Blue Flag award, this is awarded meet certain standards and is based on27 criteria like: Water Quality, Environmental Management, Safety.
Things to see: Corralejo is surrounded Volcanos its nice to do some early morning or evening walking, running around the mountains or sand dunes.
